* C API: Use segment names (#6254)ericvergnaud2024-02-011-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | Move from segment indexes to names. This is a breaking change to make the API more capable and consistent. An effort has been made to reduce the burden on C API users where possible (specifically, you can avoid providing names and let Binaryen make them for you, which will basically be numbers that match the indexes from before). Fixes #6247

* Mutli-Memories Support in IR (#4811)Ashley Nelson2022-08-171-20/+27
| | | | | | | This PR removes the single memory restriction in IR, adding support for a single module to reference multiple memories. To support this change, a new memory name field was added to 13 memory instructions in order to identify the memory for the instruction. It is a goal of this PR to maintain backwards compatibility with existing text and binary wasm modules, so memory indexes remain optional for memory instructions. Similarly, the JS API makes assumptions about which memory is intended when only one memory is present in the module. Another goal of this PR is that existing tests behavior be unaffected. That said, tests must now explicitly define a memory before invoking memory instructions or exporting a memory, and memory names are now printed for each memory instruction in the text format. There remain quite a few places where a hardcoded reference to the first memory persist (memory flattening, for example, will return early if more than one memory is present in the module). Many of these call-sites, particularly within passes, will require us to rethink how the optimization works in a multi-memories world. Other call-sites may necessitate more invasive code restructuring to fully convert away from relying on a globally available, single memory pointer.
* Clang-format c/cpp files in test directory (#4192)Heejin Ahn2021-09-291-128/+225
| | | | | | | | | This clang-formats c/cpp files in test/ directory, and updates clang-format-diff.sh so that it does not ignore test/ directory anymore. bigswitch.cpp is excluded from formatting, because there are big commented-out code blocks, and apparently clang-format messes up formatting in them. Also to make matters worse, different clang-format versions do different things on those commented-out code blocks.
* Remove FunctionType (#2510)Thomas Lively2019-12-111-6/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Function signatures were previously redundantly stored on Function objects as well as on FunctionType objects. These two signature representations had to always be kept in sync, which was error-prone and needlessly complex. This PR takes advantage of the new ability of Type to represent multiple value types by consolidating function signatures as a pair of Types (params and results) stored on the Function object. Since there are no longer module-global named function types, significant changes had to be made to the printing and emitting of function types, as well as their parsing and manipulation in various passes. The C and JS APIs and their tests also had to be updated to remove named function types.
* Reflect instruction renaming in code (#2128)Heejin Ahn2019-05-211-14/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - Reflected new renamed instruction names in code and tests: - `get_local` -> `local.get` - `set_local` -> `local.set` - `tee_local` -> `local.tee` - `get_global` -> `global.get` - `set_global` -> `global.set` - `current_memory` -> `memory.size` - `grow_memory` -> `memory.grow` - Removed APIs related to old instruction names in Binaryen.js and added APIs with new names if they are missing. - Renamed `typedef SortedVector LocalSet` to `SetsOfLocals` to prevent name clashes. - Resolved several TODO renaming items in wasm-binary.h: - `TableSwitch` -> `BrTable` - `I32ConvertI64` -> `I32WrapI64` - `I64STruncI32` -> `I64SExtendI32` - `I64UTruncI32` -> `I64UExtendI32` - `F32ConvertF64` -> `F32DemoteI64` - `F64ConvertF32` -> `F64PromoteF32` - Renamed `BinaryenGetFeatures` and `BinaryenSetFeatures` to `BinaryenModuleGetFeatures` and `BinaryenModuleSetFeatures` for consistency.
* Passive segments (#1976)Thomas Lively2019-04-051-1/+1
| | | | | Adds support for the bulk memory proposal's passive segments. Uses a new (data passive ...) s-expression syntax to mark sections as passive.
* Relooper CFG optimizations (#1759)Alon Zakai2018-11-211-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Previously the relooper would do some optimizations when deciding when to use an if vs a switch, how to group blocks, etc. This PR adds an additional pre-optimization phase with some basic but useful simplify-cfg style passes, * Skip empty blocks when they have just one exit. * Merge exiting branches when they are equivalent. * Canonicalize block contents to make such comparisons more useful. * Turn a trivial one-target switch into a simple branch. This can help in noticeable ways when running the rereloop pass, e.g. on LLVM wasm backend output. Also: * Binaryen C API changes to the relooper, which now gets a Module for its constructor. It needs it for the optimizations, as it may construct new nodes. * Many relooper-fuzzer improvements. * Clean up HashType usage.

* Unify imported and non-imported things (#1678)Alon Zakai2018-09-191-10/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fixes #1649 This moves us to a single object for functions, which can be imported or nor, and likewise for globals (as a result, GetGlobals do not need to check if the global is imported or not, etc.). All imported things now inherit from Importable, which has the module and base of the import, and if they are set then it is an import. For convenient iteration, there are a few helpers like ModuleUtils::iterDefinedGlobals(wasm, [&](Global* global) { .. use global .. }); as often iteration only cares about imported or defined (non-imported) things.

* Update binaryen-c/binaryen.js, fixes #1028, fixes #1029 (#1030)Daniel Wirtz2017-06-071-11/+11
| | | This PR adds global variable support (addGlobal, getGlobal, setGlobal), host operations (currentMemory, growMemory), a few utility functions (removeImport, removeExport, getFunctionTypeBySignature with the latter being scheduled for removal once a better alternative is in place) and it introduces an additional argument to specify the result type in BinaryenBlock (effectively breaking the C-API but retaining previous behaviour by introducing the BinaryenUndefined() type for this purpose). Additionally, it enables compilation with exception support in build-js.sh as exceptions are thrown and caught when optimizing endless loops, intentionally resulting in an unreachable opcode. Affected test cases have been updated accordingly.
