* Prefer HTTPS to FTP and HTTP in documentationPaul Eggert2017-09-131-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Most of this change is to boilerplate commentary such as license URLs. This change was prompted by ftp://ftp.gnu.org's going-away party, planned for November. Change these FTP URLs to https://ftp.gnu.org instead. Make similar changes for URLs to other organizations moving away from FTP. Also, change HTTP to HTTPS for URLs to gnu.org and fsf.org when this works, as this will further help defend against man-in-the-middle attacks (for this part I omitted the MS-DOS and MS-Windows sources and the test tarballs to keep the workload down). HTTPS is not fully working to lists.gnu.org so I left those URLs alone for now.
* Improve --enable-gcc-warnings for MinGW64Paul Eggert2017-09-091-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This partially reverts my 2016-05-30 patch. Apparently MinGW64 still requires pacifications that GCC 7.1.1 x86-64 (Fedora 26) does not. Also, pacify tparam.c, which isn’t used on Fedora. * lib-src/etags.c (process_file_name, TeX_commands): * src/buffer.c (fix_overlays_before): * src/data.c (Fmake_variable_buffer_local, cons_to_unsigned) (cons_to_signed): * src/editfns.c (Ftranslate_region_internal): Prefer UNINIT to some stray value, as this simplifies code-reading later. * src/eval.c (CACHEABLE): New macro. (internal_lisp_condition_case): Use it. * src/tparam.c (tparam1): Use FALLTHROUGH to pacify GCC.

* Use INT_ADD_WRAPV etc. to check integer overflowPaul Eggert2015-11-081-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * src/alloc.c (xnmalloc, xnrealloc, xpalloc, Fmake_string): * src/buffer.c (record_overlay_string, overlay_strings): * src/casefiddle.c (casify_object): * src/ccl.c (Fccl_execute_on_string): * src/character.c (char_width, c_string_width, lisp_string_width) (count_size_as_multibyte, string_escape_byte8): * src/coding.c (coding_alloc_by_realloc, produce_chars): * src/data.c (arith_driver): * src/dispnew.c (realloc_glyph_pool, init_display): * src/editfns.c (styled_format): * src/fns.c (Ffillarray): * src/ftfont.c (ftfont_shape_by_flt): * src/gnutls.c (gnutls_hex_string): * src/gtkutil.c (get_utf8_string): * src/image.c (x_to_xcolors, x_detect_edges, png_load_body): * src/keymap.c (Fkey_description): * src/lisp.h (SAFE_ALLOCA_LISP): * src/term.c (encode_terminal_code): * src/tparam.c (tparam1): * src/xselect.c (x_property_data_to_lisp): * src/xsmfns.c (smc_save_yourself_CB): * src/xterm.c (x_term_init): When checking for integer overflow, prefer INT_MULTIPLY_WRAPV to more-complicated code involving division and/or INT_MULTIPLY_OVERFLOW, and similarly for INT_ADD_WRAPV and subtraction and/or INT_ADD_OVERFLOW. * src/casefiddle.c (casify_object): Simplify multibyte size check. * src/character.c: Remove some obsolete ‘#ifdef emacs’s. * src/data.c (arith_driver): Also check for division overflow, as that’s now possible given that the accumulator can now contain any Emacs integer. * src/lisp.h (lisp_word_count): Remove; no longer used.
* Use bool for boolean in textprop.c, undo.cPaul Eggert2015-04-191-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * src/textprop.c (soft, hard): Now constants instead of macros. (validate_plist): Rewrite to avoid need for boolean local. (interval_has_all_properties, interval_has_some_properties) (interval_has_some_properties_list, add_properties) (remove_properties, get_char_property_and_overlay) (Fnext_single_char_property_change) (Fprevious_single_char_property_change, add_text_properties_1) (Fremove_text_properties, Fremove_list_of_text_properties) (copy_text_properties): * src/tparam.c (tparam1): * src/undo.c (record_change, record_property_change) (syms_of_undo): Use 'true' and 'false' for booleans.

* Prefer stpcpy to strcatPaul Eggert2014-12-251-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * admin/merge-gnulib (GNULIB_MODULES): Add stpcpy. * lib/gnulib.mk, m4/gnulib-comp.m4: Regenerate. * lib/stpcpy.c, m4/stpcpy.m4: New files, from gnulib. * lib-src/ebrowse.c (sym_scope_1, operator_name, open_file): * lib-src/emacsclient.c (get_server_config, set_local_socket) (start_daemon_and_retry_set_socket): * lib-src/etags.c (main, C_entries, relative_filename): * lib-src/pop.c (sendline): * lib-src/update-game-score.c (main): * lwlib/xlwmenu.c (resource_widget_value): * src/callproc.c (child_setup): * src/dbusbind.c (xd_signature_cat): * src/doc.c (get_doc_string, Fsnarf_documentation): * src/editfns.c (Fuser_full_name): * src/frame.c (xrdb_get_resource): * src/gtkutil.c (xg_get_file_with_chooser): * src/tparam.c (tparam1): * src/xfns.c (xic_create_fontsetname): * src/xrdb.c (gethomedir, get_user_db, get_environ_db): * src/xsmfns.c (smc_save_yourself_CB): Rewrite to avoid the need for strcat, typically by using stpcpy and/or lispstpcpy. strcat tends to be part of O(N**2) algorithms. * src/doc.c (sibling_etc): * src/xrdb.c (xdefaults): Now a top-level static constant.

* Port better to POSIX hosts lacking _setjmp.Paul Eggert2012-09-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * configure.ac (HAVE__SETJMP, HAVE_SIGSETJMP): New symbols. (_setjmp, _longjmp): Remove. * src/lisp.h: Include <setjmp.h> here, since we use its symbols here. All instances of '#include <setjmp.h>' removed, if the only reason for the instance was because "lisp.h" was included. (sys_jmp_buf, sys_setjmp, sys_longjmp): New symbols. Unless otherwise specified, replace all uses of jmp_buf, _setjmp, and _longjmp with the new symbols. Emacs already uses _setjmp if available, so this change affects only POSIXish hosts that have sigsetjmp but not _setjmp, such as some versions of Solaris and Unixware. (Also, POSIX-2008 marks _setjmp as obsolescent.) * src/image.c (_setjmp, _longjmp) [HAVE_PNG && !HAVE__SETJMP]: New macros. (png_load_body) [HAVE_PNG]: (PNG_LONGJMP) [HAVE_PNG && PNG_LIBPNG_VER < 10500]: (PNG_JMPBUF) [HAVE_PNG && PNG_LIBPNG_VER >= 10500]: Use _setjmp and _longjmp rather than sys_setjmp and sys_longjmp, since PNG requires jmp_buf. This is the only exception to the general rule that we now use sys_setjmp and sys_longjmp. This exception is OK since this code does not change the signal mask or longjmp out of a signal handler. Fixes: debbugs:12446
* Simplify redefinition of 'abort' (Bug#12316).Paul Eggert2012-09-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Do not try to redefine the 'abort' function. Instead, redo the code so that it calls 'emacs_abort' rather than 'abort'. This removes the need for the NO_ABORT configure-time macro and makes it easier to change the abort code to do a backtrace. * configure.ac (NO_ABRT): Remove. * admin/CPP-DEFINES (NO_ABORT): Remove. * nt/inc/ms-w32.h (w32_abort) [HAVE_NTGUI]: Remove. * src/.gdbinit: Just stop at emacs_abort, not at w32_abort or abort. * src/emacs.c (abort) [!DOS_NT && !NO_ABORT]: Remove; sysdep.c's emacs_abort now takes its place. * src/lisp.h (emacs_abort): New decl. All calls from Emacs code to 'abort' changed to use 'emacs_abort'. * src/msdos.c (dos_abort) [defined abort]: Remove; not used. (abort) [!defined abort]: Rename to ... (emacs_abort): ... new name. * src/sysdep.c (emacs_abort) [!HAVE_NTGUI]: New function, taking the place of the old 'abort' in emacs.c. * src/w32.c, src/w32fns.c (abort): Do not #undef. * src/w32.c (emacs_abort): Rename from w32_abort.
